FRIDAY 29TH MAY

Calm the winds of your thoughts, and there will be no waves on the ocean of your mind.(Remez Sasson)

-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

higher and higher,
now out of sight, the skylark
leaves his song behind

Hail to thee, blithe spirit!
Bird thou never wert,
That from heaven, or near it,
Pourest thy full heart
In profuse strains of unpremeditated art.

Higher still and higher
From the earth thou springest
Like a cloud of fire;
The blue deep thou wingest,
And singing still dost soar, and soaring ever singest.

What thou art, we know not;
What is most like thee?
From rainbow clouds there flow not
Drops so bright to see
As from thy presence showers a rain of melody.

Better than all measures
Of delightful sound,
Better than all treasures
That in books are found,
Thy skill to poet were, thou scorner of the ground!

Teach me half the gladness
That thy brain must know,
Such harmonious madness
From my lips would flow
The world should listen then, as I am listening now!

There’s a famous story about the Chinese Taoist philosopher Zhuangzi who lived in the 4th century BC. He had a dream in which he was a butterfly flying around with not a care in the world. When he woke up and realised he had been dreaming, he wondered “Was I a man dreaming that I was a butterfly, or perhaps right now I’m a butterfly dreaming I’m a man?”

Every day must come to you as -
a new hope,
a new promise,
a new aspiration,
a new energy,
a new thrill, and
a new delight.

The haiku “higher and higher” I wrote.

The verses from “To a Skylark” are by Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822). The full poem can be found at -

The panpipes music is the Meditation from “Thais” by Massenet, played by Brad White.

It's not known who wrote "Every day must come to you."
